The University Libraries is pleased to announce the launch of a new digital collection:

The LSTA-grant funded, Southern Nevada: The Boomtown Years 1900-1925 digital collection brings together a wide range of original source materials found in the rich collections of UNLV Libraries Special Collections, as well as items from the Nevada State Museum and the Clark County Museum.

The project contains over 1500 digitized items; including photographs, correspondence, newspapers, maps, and ephemera from several mining and railroad manuscript collections documenting both large historical events, and the more private and social lives of individuals and their communities during the mining boom in Southern Nevada.

Notably, this collection also promotes the use of primary source materials by K-16 educators by providing a wide variety of standards-based teaching activities for elementary and high schoolers.

You can now create a review for catalog materials that will display in the public catalog.

Search the catalog for the item that you would like to review (http://webpac.library.unlv.edu/search~S1/).

Click on the "reviews" icon.

Login in with your Rebelcard barcode and PIN.

Post your review. Note: reviews will be displayed after review by Libraries staff.

Social Tagging allows patrons to add search terms (tags) they feel are useful in locating a specific item. Tags will be immediately visible to other patrons when searching Encore.

1. Search for an item by clicking on the books tab on the library home page.
2. Encore will be the default option in the drop-down menu.
3. Type in the keywords or title of an item.
4. Click on the title of the item that you would like to tag.
5. Locate the "Community Tags" header at the bottom of the item record.
6. Click the "Add a Tag" link - You will be prompted to login.
7. Add your tag and click the submit button
