The University Libraries is expanding the use of the Personal Identification Number (PIN) A PIN is currently required to use the self-checkout machines, to view your library account and to renew books or place holds online. Effective Monday, June 2, 2008, all library users who are eligible to access the Libraries' electronic journals, indexes and databases from the dorms or off-campus, e.g. UNLV faculty, students and staff, will be required to enter a PIN number to access these resources. This expanded use of the PIN will further reduce the risk of identity theft and will also help protect the Libraries' online assets.
Setting your PIN is very easy and can be done by following these SELF-SERVICE procedures:
1. Go to: www.library.unlv.edu/ (or use a nearby Express Station if you are in the library)
2. Click on "Your Account" at the top of the page
3. Enter the barcode from the back of your RebelCard ID
4. Click on "Submit"
5. Create a four-character PIN (numbers and/or letters in upper or lower case are all acceptable)
Or select the FULL SERVICE option and ask a staff member at the Circulation Desk to set a PIN for you. Please take a moment now to set up your PIN.
