Need some basic music information?   The Oxford Reference Online may be your answer to get quick answers to some of your questions.  The Oxford Reference Online contains online full-text editions of The Oxford Companion to the American Musical, The Oxford Companion to Music,  The New Grove Book of Opera Singers, and The Grove Book of Operas. Yes, complete editions of these resources are available straight from your computer!  The Oxford Dictionary of Dance and The International Encyclopedia of Dance are also available full-text online through the Oxford Reference Online.   Check out this resource, available for all UNLV-affiliated users at a computer near you!

Are you looking for information on ethnic music of a country or region?  Check out the Garland Encyclopedia of World Music Online.  It may have the information for you!  Articles in the Garland Encyclopedia contain surveys of musical heritage, traditions and themes of various regions and countries as well as descriptions of musical practices, and performances. Also  included are photographs that show musicians, musical instruments, and the cultural context of dances, rituals, and ceremonies.
