They have just issued a Statement of Fair Use Best Practices for Media Studies Publishing. You can get the pdf of that report here.

The document states that its intention is to be "a reference for media scholars to follow when considering whether or not their inclusion of media in a publication meets the standards of fair use."

She will hire, train, and supervise student-workers and coordinate all activities at the Computer Help Desk.

Marice has served as an LTI in Media & Computer Services since 2001.

Marice will make the transition from her current responsibilities to her new role on August 1.

I just wanted to tell you about a DVD that was mentioned in a library meeting.
"Shots Fired When Lightning Strikes" (HF5549.5 E43 S56 2007), which is all about what to do and how to survive an active shooter situation. This DVD is available at Lied library at Media and Computer Services. This can be checked out by students, faculty and library staff. Students do have to watch this at the library.

You can also watch it online at UNLV's Risk Management and Safety website.

There is a strange little quirk with the above website. You can access this online through any computer on the UNLV campus, but not from your home computer.

Most of the pages can be found at the same urls, the major exception being that the Media Lab (what used to be the Multimedia Design Studio) can now be found at http://www.library.unlv.edu/media/medialab.html.


The other major change is a new navigation bar specific to MCS. Previously, all the navigation was on the MCS homepage:

I have created a new right-hand navigation bar with all the most important MCS links. This sidebar remains on all the MCS pages. Some MCS-related pages exist outside the MCS site, so those pages will not have the sidebar.

Although currently no other University Libraries pages have such a sidebar, I didn't want to wander too far afield of the look and feel of the existing site. I found a good example of a right-hand navigation bar on the Office of Information Technology site and modeled the MCS sidebar on that. They have modified it a bit since I originally looked at it, but here is an example of a page that I modeled the MCS sidebar on:

At the bottom of the new MCS homepage, you will find links to the latest posts on this blog as well an updated list of what new films have been added to our collection. The right-hand navigation provides links to this blog and subscribing to the new films list.

I hope this navigation helps in finding what you need from Media and Computer Services.
