Education Full Text

The Education Full Text database includes articles with page images, plus abstracts, and indexing. Full text coverage starting in 1996, indexing from 1983 and abstracts from 1994. Education Full Text includes comprehensive coverage of an international range of English-language periodicals, monographs and yearbooks. Full text of articles, with indexing cover to cover, from hundreds of journals. Coverage includes about 79 journals (37 with full text) not covered by ERIC's CIJE. Included are up-to-date subject headings keeping pace with today's changing issues and terminology. Graphical content also adds a key dimension to research--PDF page images accompany full text articles, offering both words and images. Subjects covered include: Adult Education, Arts, Athletics, Comparative Education, Competency-based Education, Computers in Education, Continuing Education, Educational Technology, Elementary Education, Government Funding, Higher Education, Instructional Media, Language Arts, Library Science, Literacy Standards, Multicultural/Ethnic Education, Parent-Teacher Relations, Prayer in Public Schools, Preschool Education, Religious Education, School Administration, Science and Mathematics, Secondary Education, Special Education, Student Counseling, Teacher Education, Teacher Evaluation, Teaching Methods, Vocational Education.

Search Tips:

  • To conduct a search, select one or more databases from the database selection area. Click Close Database Selection Area or Open Database Selection Area, as appropriate. Enter a word or phrase in the first text-entry area and make the appropriate selection from the as: drop-down list.

  • When using the All - Smart Search query do not use truncation symbols or other special characters. The Wilson All - Smart Search query will automatically search those options. Simply type the word or phrase that you are interested in and click Start. The search results will automatically show the most relevant articles at the top of the set when the Sort by Relevance option has been selected.   • It is possible to export citations to the refworks citation manager program to create a bibliography. To do this mark the items from your search you wish to export. Then click on get marked. After you have a list of the items you want to export, click on exporting/citing in the blue bar at the top of the page. Then click on Refworks Direct Exportation tool and export. It is important to have your pop-up blocker turned off when exporting items. Do not log into Refworks until prompted to.

  • To customize the way your records are displayed click the Customize Display button located at the top of each screen, to make selections for defining how the records are displayed. To modify the display of records:

    1. Select the label display, the number of results shown on each screen, and whether or not you want to see a Brief or Full Display.
    2. Select how you want records sorted: by date, relevance, or some other field from the drop-down window. Select the sort order of the retrieved records.
    3. Select the Interface Language (for primary screens - Basic Search, Advanced Search, Browse, Thesaurus, Print Email Save and Exporting/Citing). Also select the color of the interface, if desired.
    4. Check the field options you would like to include in your results. Click to uncheck any checked fields you prefer not to include, and/or check fields you wish displayed.
    5. Apply the desired fields to the Custom Settings area, as desired.
    6. Click Save Changes in the bottom taskbar to confirm.

    You can change these options at any time during the search session. When you click Save Changes or Default Settings, you will return to your previous screen.


Where is it: Go to the UNLV Libraries' home page http://www.library.unlv.edu. Select the Articles and Databases tab, click on the A-Z List of Databases and then on the letter E and select Education Full Text.
