Simon Pratt from Thomson Reuters has written an interesting piece on how you can use Web of Science to identify important research on past influenza epidemics. An announcement in the Chronicle of Higher Education that PubMed would begin indexing the Journal of Visualized Experiments piqued my interest. I had not heard of this open-access video journal before. If you go to the journal site at http://www.jove.com/ you can view videos of experimental techniques. The categories they list are: Basic Protocols, Neuroscience, Developmental Biology, Cellular Biology, Plant Biology, Microbiology, and Immunology.
