Thinking about designing the library of the future? What might that look like?
Take a look at this video to see the experiments in library learning and interactive spaces conducted by the Transformation Lab in Denmark and see what you think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpFO_L_jA1c
One key is giving the users opportunities to become more visible and to collaborate in creating space and use of space.

For a public library these experiments seem to be more acceptable because today libraries are molding into local community cultural centers. Some of these uses seem less useful for institutional study libraries especially a narrow focus like the ASL. With that being said some ideas that I found exciting are the multiple TVs playing multiple new programs, a place for one to pick up and instrument to play, or a wall of popular topics. These ideas sparked an idea that may be food for thought for the ASL. I think one would find it very interesting to know what the library circulates the most. Maybe producing a weekly list of the top 10 or so circulated books and posting this list in the libary may be a great way of sharing great books with others.
